Research

Developed high-yielding and Hight Quality apple varieties through genetic manipulation and selection

Standardized micro-irrigation and fertigation techniques in high density orchards

  • Stadardized micro-irrigation and fertigation levels for high density orchards.

Established Germ Plasm Bank of temperate fruits

  • Established repositories of Pome, Stone and Nut fruit crops comprise on few hundred exotic and indigeous varieties, maintained and conserved on scientific lines at Shalimar Research Station and other other sub-stations of SKUAST-K.
  • Critical evaluation and screening based on several years of research on this repository resulted in identification of some outstandig fruit varieties of various kinds which have been grouped as early, mid and late seasoned.
  • These varieties have been adopted by the fruit growers as their commercial enterprise. This rich repository continues to benefit teachers, scientists and students in their academic and research endeavours.
